Skjálfandi Bay in northern Iceland is a beautiful place where most of the year various species of cetaceans come to visit to eat in the nutrient-rich bay. Here you can see blue whales (the largest animal that ever lived on our earth, bigger than the dinosaurs), "normal' fin whales, minke whales, various species of dolphins, orcas and humpback whales as shown here. Humpback whales occur in large numbers and the chance to spot them is very high.
With 24 hours of daylight in the middle of summer, the small town of Húsavik is a special place to visit and on sunny days the evening whale watch trips (e.g. from 21:30 - 24:00) are often the most beautiful because the light is so beautiful.
It can also splash from the rain and be very cold and then it is just a little less pleasant ;)
Lived in Amsterdam, but decided in 2018 to pursue his dreams. Currently lives and works in Tonga where he works for a whale snorkeling operator. Favorite are mainly wildlife photography with a great passion for whales and tigers, as well as photographing people and "life". Can wait hours for that one shot, and then wait another day for a better shot. Has a very long and extensive to-do list of places to visit ;-)! Thank you very much for your interest and who knows, maybe a work of mine will soon be hanging on your wall.
