The green iguana (Iguana iguana) is a lizard in the family iguanas (Iguanidae). The species was first scientifically described by Carolus Linnaeus in 1758. Originally, the scientific name Lacerta Igvana was used. It is one of the best-known species of iguanas because of its size, manageability and menu consisting of plants. The green iguana is a popular species in zoos and is even kept by individuals as an exotic pet.The green iguana can reach a length of up to two meters and is considered the most impressive species of all iguanas. The long tail covers two-thirds of the total body length. The iguana is usually green in color but can take on other colors as well. There is a subspecies that develops small horns on the snout tip, but most specimens do not have these structures.
