Natalie Bruns Profile picture In 2017, I had the privilege of taking a trip to New Zealand for several weeks. By car, I drove around the southern island. The drive to Mount Cook was one to remember, though. This dead-end road of up to 65 km long takes you to the foot of the highest mountain in New - Zealand. Mount Cook, named after the English explorer James Cook, is located in the National Park of the same name and is 3764m high. It is called "Aoraki" by the Maori, meaning cloud piercer.

I took inspiration for this line drawing from a photo I took during this car ride. The photo is also for sale on Work on the Wall and is titled: The road to Mount Cook / New - Zealand by Shot it photography. While driving on this road to the mountains, I experienced the ultimate feeling of freedom. A Volkswagen van in orange hippie colors seemed like a good fit for this artwork.

It is a cheerful artwork for anyone who likes to dream away. Or maybe you've been there yourself and would like to be reminded of it daily. Of course, it could also be that beautiful road trips are on your bucket list and this is a reminder to make those dreams come true. Whatever it is, this artwork will fill the room with positivity and put a smile on your and others' faces.

The lines in the drawing were made with marker pen. Real handwork, in other words. Later I colored the areas in Photoshop.

I used the following colors for this artwork: orange, beige, brown, green, yellow and different shades of blue.
