The Hofvijver is a water in the centre of The Hague. It lies on the Binnenhof and the Mauritshuis. It is a small island covered with plants and trees, popularly known as the 'Hofvijver Island'. The Hofvijver was originally a natural dune lake. The pond is surrounded by a fairly high quay, the water is very shallow.
Around the pond are various museums such as the Mauritshuis, the Prison Gate, The Hague Historical Museum, the Museum Bredius and the Prince William V Gallery.
