Hunebeds are probably the oldest monuments in the Netherlands. They were built from the boulders that were left behind when the ice of the last ice age retreated.
Hunebeds served as burial chambers. People used to think that the Hunebeds weren't built by people, but by giants. (Huynen). The Hunebeds were built by the Funnel Goblet people. Originally the Hunebeds were covered with sand and grass. You only saw an elongated hill. The Hunebeds are in the Hondsrug, Unesco Global Geopark. Hunebeds don't have names, they have numbers.
