About the artwork

According to the Romans, the Bacchanalia, also known as the Bacchian Mysteries or Orgias, were all orgasmic feasts organised from the cult of Dionysos. A drinking party, sex party, orgy, drinking party, drinking game or bacchanalia is a gathering of several people that is accompanied by a large or excessive alcohol consumption and sex. The word comes from feasts, which used to be given in honour of the Roman wine god Bacchus.

However, it is said that in that drunken state, people also committed the worst sins, including perjury, sex scandals, forgery or murder. The resulting sexual debauchery was one of the main reasons why it was banned by the Roman state.

On this work of art there are several almost naked people in a garden feasting on booze. A guy's torso is depicted naked and a girl has her dress under her breasts.

Jan Hermansz. van Bijlert (1597 or 1598 - Utrecht, 13 November 1671) was a Dutch painter who is considered one of the Utrecht Caravaggists. In his later life he painted classicist. He mainly painted genre pieces and portraits. Other names for him are Jan Harmensz. van Bijlert, Jan van Biler, Jan van Bylaert, Giovanni Bilardo and Jan van Bylert.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
