Japanese maple trees are associated with peace and serenity and symbolize balance, usefulness and welcoming autumn. They are called "kito" in the Japanese language, which means "tranquility", "rest" or "at peace." The tree represents pure elegance and beauty in beautiful colors. With a rich history of symbolism, the Japanese maple tree has played an important role in Asian art, gardening and even poetry for hundreds of years.
To capture the temporary, transient and beautiful in images, that is photography to me. Nature, man, something... In everything there is a certain beauty, purity and fragility. The art is to see it, to expose it and to reap the astonishment.
The coast and the dunes close to home are my favourite places, but I also discover a lot of beauty while travelling.
As a photographer and production assistant for community art projects I work freelance at Kwekers in de kunst. I make images for PR, publications, projections and record the various musical theatre performances. Besides that I work on photo-exhibitions, projects and portrait-series related to this community-art like: 100-year old Westlanders, Pracować - In search of bread,
Heroes of 't Hoogie, Surinamese men and their twa twa's and WOMEN of DEN HAAG.
In cooperation with the museum in Scheveningen I realized the following expositions
Visserskoppen (former fishermen in Scheveningen), De vis wordt duur betaald (about fishermen's wives of Scheveningen; on display in Muzee Scheveningen) and Scheveningen (op'z'n) hondjes.
