The John Frost Bridge has been the official name of the road bridge over the Lower Rhine near Arnhem since 16 September 1978. The bridge is named after John Dutton Frost, who, as lieutenant colonel of the second battalion of the First British Airborne Brigade during the Battle of Arnhem, reached the bridge but failed to completely capture it from the Germans.
