Judith and Holofernes is a Biblical story that has been frequently cited in art history for its intense story of the beheading of Holofernes. Well-known pieces include the paintings of Caravaggio and Gustav Klimt.
The iconic work of Gustav Klimt appeals to me greatly because of the tremendously decorative nature of the Art Nouveau / Jugendstil. Judith's powerful pose with her femininity open and exposed inspired me to create this work. The head of Holofernes is omitted in this version, but the observant viewer will recognize a symbolic reference from afar.
The work is playful, raw, partly disturbing, Jugendstil with a touch of pop art. A colorful digital collage with an urban and modern feel.
The contrast of the warm red and orange tones and cold blue colors correspond to Judith's mirror image.

I am MadameRuiz, and am an artist by profession. I hope to delight you with my work. Here in my profile, or on your wall :) Both are fun!
Will you let me know what you think of my work? I would love to get in touch with you. Also when you have one of my works in your home I am very curious about the end result in your interior.
I love everything that has to do with art, culture and creativity. Experiencing, creating, teaching and communicating. Through language, image, non-verbal and through the musical voice.
I became known for my commissioned ink portraits. My work was first shown to a large audience in the program VTWonen Weer verliefd op je huis (February 2021). I make many ink portraits of and for individuals; from pregnancy portraits, wedding portraits, child portraits, love portraits and family portraits to portraits of pets such as dogs, cats, horses and birds. These ink portraits are all handmade by the way, drawn and painted with east indian ink on watercolor paper.
In my shop at work on the wall you can order my Digital Art. Because I normally work almost exclusively on commission, my autonomous art via Digital Art is really a wonderful experimental outlet. This also means that I keep experimenting with painting techniques and collage techniques using Photoshop. Although I love to experiment, quality comes first
