New York City, Manhattan West with The Spiral on the left, designed by one of my favorite architects of the moment, Danish architect Bjarke Ingels ( Bjarke Ingels Group ) The Spiral was completed 2022.
In the background we see The Empire State Building, designed by Shreve, Lamb & Harmon and built in 1930-1931. It was the first building with more than 100 stories and, at 381 meters, the tallest skyscraper in New York for many years. It also regained that record after the Twin Towers collapsed.
As in the photo, the beautiful arts-deco Empire State skyscraper also disappears more into the background. It now ranks 6th highest skyscraper in New York
Kind of Blue, after the best jazz record ever made by Miles Davis, I think is an appropriate title. Not only because of the color and the fact that the record was recorded in New York in 1951, but also because we are talking about timeless cool jazz and this photo has the potential to become timeless as well, if only because it shows two buildings with 90 years of history between them.
