Elianne van Turennout Profile picture Tucked deep in the heart of the countryside, where the rhythm of life is determined by the rising and setting of the sun, is an old barn. Here, amid rolls of fragrant hay and the soothing symphony of chirping birds, a spectacle of innocent joy and playful discovery unfolds.

On a sunny afternoon, illuminated by the warm golden light seeping in through the cracks of the roof, two mischievous kittens find themselves on top of a hay bale. Their fluffy fur, as soft as the spring breeze, shines in the sun's rays as they frolic and romp with the hubris that only young souls know.

One, a tiger-striped bundle of energy, sprints deftly across the undulating landscape of straw, his curious eyes sparkling with excitement. The other, a dainty spotted creature, follows its playmate with thoughtful steps, her ears alert to any sound that breaks the silence of the barn.

Together they form a tableau of youthful vitality, a vivid portrayal of carefree joy amid the rustic charm of the countryside. As they chase each other, play hide-and-seek among the hay and take occasional naps in the warm glow of the sun, they seem to slow down time and blur all the worries of the world.

In this oasis of simple pleasures, where the smell of fresh hay mixes with the sound of soft meows, the kittens on the hay bale become more than just animals. They become symbols of the pure joy that comes from the small, everyday moments of happiness, reminding us to embrace the beauty of life in its most humble form.

It all started with a4 paper and HB pencils. As a child I was often impressed by how beautiful the world around me was. The urge to capture this beautiful world, and to show the people around me what I saw, was actually there from the beginning. If I remember correctly, I was about eleven years old when I first met the camera. Of course it was a simple compact camera with a ridiculous quality, but I enjoyed it.

I sometimes said I wanted to be a photographer, but of course you have one of the two parents who says, "Dream on." Strangely enough, I followed the sarcastic remark as advice, and still went to study photography.
