Volcano cone at "Cabeza de Vaca" (cow head) in the region "Cumbre Vieja" on La Palma (Canary Island) taken on 14.04.22 at 18:30 h from our finca. At the time of recording, it was exceptionally almost not outgassing. Normally the outgassing takes place between the volcano cone and the mountains and causes an increased cloud formation.
In contrast to the blue-black volcanic ash directly around the cone, the black cooled lava is visible in the foreground. The bright areas at the top of the cone are caused in part by the escaping gases.
The eruption started on Sunday, 19.09.2021 shortly after 15 h local time (CEST 16 h) and was declared finished by the authorities on 25.12.2021.
Photography has always been my hobby - but for years it was unfortunately a dormant hobby.
It was revitalised by our astronomical observatory on the Canary Island of La Palma.
