The Espada originated from the Marzal prototype, designed by Carrozzeria Bertone. The Espada also came from this design house. At the time, it was one of the most expensive Lamborghinis one could buy, but also one of the best-selling, with a production run of 1224 between 1968 and 1978. The first version, also called Series I, had 325bhp at 6500rpm, the Series II had 350bhp.
