This picture was taken in Kootwijk.
Radio Kootwijk is a former transmitter park on the Veluwe.
In the first half of the 20th century, it formed an important communication link between the Netherlands and its then colonies, particularly the Dutch East Indies.
After considering various locations, the choice fell on a piece of Veluwe, a sparsely populated area of land.
In the early years, the station was still called "Radio Hoog Buurlo", after the nearest hamlet.
Now the monument blends into the beautiful nature reserve and colourful purple heathland.
