Deciduous forest of common beech (Fagus sylvatica) with brightly colored fall foliage in November.
The estate De Slotplaats is one of the larger Frisian woodlands. Jonkheer Burmania planted the estate's first trees as early as 1730. During your visit, you will walk among gigantic beeches. The thickest beech is 250 years old. The stateliness of these old trees and the colorful autumnal dress of brightly colored leaves transform the landscape into a magical fairy tale and an almost unnatural landscape in the cultivated Netherlands.
In October & November, the colors of these deciduous forests are at their best and the roads and paths are beautifully colored orange and yellow with the beautiful autumn leaves. As the chlorophyll leaves, the other color pigments present get a chance and give the leaves a beautiful autumn color. Yellow leaves come from the pigment Xantophyll, orange comes from the Carotene (as in carrots) and Tannins provide brown leaves. Only with red leaves it goes a little differently. These are largely created in autumn. Bright red leaves come from the pigment anthocyanin and this pigment is produced more on sunny days.
This photo gives a nice example of a path through an ancient forest in high quality that can be used for printing, photo printing and styling of interiors in offices, business premises, campaigns or image banks.
