Legendary warbird of the Second World War: North American B-25 Mitchell.
In this case the North American TB-25N Mitchell '02344' "Doolittle Raiders - Special Livery" (registration N333RW).
The Doolittle Raid on April 18, 1942 was the first American air attack on Tokyo during the Second World War. The raid demonstrated that Japan itself was vulnerable to Allied air attack and provided an opportunity for American retaliation for the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. During this air raid, 16 B-25 bombers took off from the aircraft carrier USS Hornet which had sailed to about 1,000 km off the Japanese coast.
I took this photo during an airshow at Barksdale Air Force Base on May 7, 2017.
I am Jaap van den Berg and photography has become a great passion of mine since 2010. Since then I travel all over the world to take pictures of military aircrafts. But besides aircraft I also love to photograph other subjects like landscapes, architecture, flowers, animals, ships and cranes. Evening photography and macro photography are also something I enjoy doing.
