In December, when I visited, I discovered that the sun doesn't get very high in Denmark. At Nyhavn Harbor in Copenhagen only one side of the harbor gets the sunshine and then only half way down the beautiful colored old town houses. Everything below that is in dark shade as shown here. But that made it enticing to me as I love the interplay of light and shade in images. It gave me a chance to focus on the glorious old buildings, their windows and colors, with just a glimpse of the harbor, boats and busy area immediately beneath them.
The Nyhavn Harbor is very popular with tourists who like to sit by the waterfront at bars and restaurants and enjoy a meal while watching the world go by. It is cold though, but the outside seating areas have patio heaters and each seat has a blanket for customers to wrap around their legs to keep out the cold.
