At the southernmost tip of Lagos you will find one of the Algarve's most beautiful sights: the world-famous Ponta da Piedade. Here, the elements have spent centuries creating a work of art consisting of colourful rock formations overlooking Portugal's southern coast.
This photo shows how the cliffs come back to life after a few rains. It is incredible how, after a long and dry summer, nature still comes back.
The low season is one of my favourite times of the year here in the Algarve. Not only is it a lot quieter now that all the holidaymakers have returned home, but it is also the start of the time of year when nature is beautiful and in bloom. The birds build nests in the holes and crevices and most of the pleasure boats on tour stay docked in the harbour.
You don't always see the combination of green cliffs and clear blue water, as low season also means storm season which means the sea water is often murky and full of waves.
