Lighthouses are magical and enjoyed by many enthusiasts. This lighthouse stands on the northernmost tip of the Scottish island of Lewis (and Harris). The point there is called the Butt of Lewis, and is the windiest spot in Britain. It stands alone in a desolate landscape. Just beyond it, high waves beat against the rocks, where mostly seagulls find a nesting spot.
Dream away to faraway places on the other side of the ocean: Iceland, Greenland, Svalbard.

Landscapes and townscapes are my favourite subjects. I search for beauty in the image; that can come from any of the compositional elements such as lines, shapes, rhythms, light/dark, colour combinations. For me a photograph is successful, when I can hang it on the wall and enjoy it for months without getting irritated about imperfections. My subjects are mostly outside, in nature or in the city. On the many trips I make, but also close to home. My photographs are regularly published in newspapers and magazines. My photographs have also been shown in several exhibitions in the Alphen region. I learned a lot in the three years (2007 to 2010) that I lived, worked and photographed in the United States. Meanwhile, I have published two photo books with pictures of Alphen aan den Rijn, where I live.
