About the artwork

Luftwaffe Eurocopter Tiger combat helicopter.

Serial number 1060.
Registration number 74+60.

The Eurocopter Tiger is a twin-engine attack helicopter that first flew in 1991. The Tiger is produced by Eurocopter.

Development of the Tiger started during the Cold War and was initially developed as an anti-tank helicopter in case of an invasion of Western Europe by Soviet forces. Even during the development phase, the Soviet Union collapsed but France and Germany chose to continue with the Tiger. The Tiger's role now became that of a multi-role attack helicopter. The aircraft became operational in 2003.

The Tiger is the first helicopter in Europe to be made of composite materials; from the earliest models, they also have advanced features such as a 'glass cockpit', stealth technology and great manoeuvrability to increase survivability.

This picture was taken during the Tag der Bundeswehr on 17 June 2023 in Bückeburg.
