Elianne van Turennout Profile picture On a sturdy wooden table lie carefully arranged, locked books, like keepers of hidden stories and adventures yearning to be discovered. Atop these literary treasures is an impressive scene: a large, majestic toad, its broad back adorned with lush mushrooms that shine like enchanting lanterns in the twilight. With his eyes wide open, the toad looks out over his realm with a gaze full of wonder, his eyes twinkling at the soft light radiating from the mushrooms.

The atmosphere exudes an air of magic, where the toad's presence evokes a sense of mystery and enchantment. Each closed book represents an opportunity for discovery, a journey waiting to be undertaken by the toad, its curious gaze already wandering over the pages on which the secrets of the world are written. Amid the quietness of the books, the toad radiates an aura of majestic vigilance, like a silent guardian of the magic that slumbers between the pages, while the mushrooms on its back gently illuminate the darkness with their enchanting glow.

The light emanating from the mushrooms casts a warm glow over the surroundings, making the table an oasis of calm and enchantment in the dark room. The delicate rays of light dance across the covers of the books, their titles whispering of untold adventures and hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. In this enchanting setting, time seems to stand still as the toad and his luminous companions create a moment of pure magic, where the boundaries between reality and fantasy blur.

It all started with a4 paper and HB pencils. As a child I was often impressed by how beautiful the world around me was. The urge to capture this beautiful world, and to show the people around me what I saw, was actually there from the beginning. If I remember correctly, I was about eleven years old when I first met the camera. Of course it was a simple compact camera with a ridiculous quality, but I enjoyed it.

I sometimes said I wanted to be a photographer, but of course you have one of the two parents who says, "Dream on." Strangely enough, I followed the sarcastic remark as advice, and still went to study photography.
