This maritime image was taken in June 2015 on the east coast of Sicily in Acitrezza. It was taken with the Nikon camera.
Aci Trezza, also Acitrezza, is a fraction of the municipality of Aci Castello in the metropolitan city of Catania in the Italian region of Sicily. The municipality is located on the east coast of Sicily on the Ionian Sea. Off the coast are the Cyclops Islands. Aci Trezza was originally a small fishing village that became a destination for Catania residents because of its beautiful beach.
In 1948, the film La terra trema was shot in Aci Trezza under the direction of Luchino Visconti with local actors. The film is based on Giovanni Verga's novel Malavoglia, which depicts the hard life of fishermen. Some of Verga's stories from Cavalleria rusticana (Sicilian peasant stories) also refer to Aci Trezza. They served as the basis for the opera of the same name Cavalleria rusticana by Pietro Mascagni.
