Unique sustainable portrait of Mariah Carey handmade with paint residue on waste wood
Mariah Carey (Huntington, New York, 27 March 1969 or 1970) is an American pop/r&b singer, songwriter, producer, actress and writer. Also called the "Songbird Supreme" and the "Queen of Christmas", she is known for her vocal range of five octaves, melismatic singing style and distinctive use of the flute register. Carey rose to fame in 1990 with her eponymous debut album. She was the first artist to achieve a No 1 listing in the US top 100 with her first five singles.
Carey's debut album was released under the direction of Columbia Records record boss Tommy Mottola, whom she married three years later. Carey achieved great success with the albums "Music Box" (1993), "Merry Christmas" (1994) and "Daydream" (1995) and with singles such as "Hero", "Without You", "All I Want for Christmas Is You", "Fantasy", "Always Be My Baby" and "One Sweet Day". After divorcing Mottola, Carey adopted a new image and incorporated more hip-hop elements on her next album Butterfly (1997). Billboard named her the "Artist of the Decade" (1990), while the World Music Awards honoured her as the best-selling female pop artist of the millennium.

Unique, affordable and personalized art, portraits and gifts on preferably old, used or discarded wood.
We are Gerhard van Dijkhuizen and Colet Scheper. Together we came up with the concept hou2use. Based on a photo we invent, design and create unique, personal and affordable art on wood. We strongly believe in sustainability and therefore we prefer to make portraits of people or (domestic) animals on used or discarded wood.
We love most art on commission. We then conceive and create, together with you and especially for you, a custom-made work of art or portrait on wood.
Thanks to our special collaboration with Werk aan de Muur, you can also reproduce our unique work in virtually any format and on virtually any material!
