The Marker Wadden, the Netherlands' youngest nature reserve in the making. Millions of cubic metres of clay, sand and peat have been sprayed here since 2016. The first phase is the realisation of five islands in the Markermeer. The plan serves to significantly improve the water quality of the Markermeer. The realization of the islands is an appealing example of makeable nature in our country. The Haveneiland, with a size of about 250 hectares can be visited, the other four islands are only accessible for (nature) researchers.
