Ever since I was a little girl, I was fascinated by Marlene Dietrich. I particularly liked the mixture of aloofness, strong woman and wickedness. And where would we be today without the famous Marlene Trousers. She was a great woman who made a lot of difference to other women and, above all, she had backbone.
From a purely visual point of view, I loved the good old Hollywood lighting in her films, which put the focus on the eyes. I wanted to capture this icon of film in modern pop art form and those who know my other paintings will understand that I found it difficult to leave out the accuracy and softness and instead limit myself to just 4 colour values.
I took a black and white photo of her as a model and concentrated on the light and dark areas and 2 grey values in between. In a way, impressionism without a soft brush but painted with hard strokes and partly scribbled.
I am already looking forward to seeing customer photos. I would love to see in which flat of a Marlene fan my work finds its way.
"I can't give you anything but my imagination" (Britta Glodde)
Britta Glodde is a digital artist from Germany with Spanish residency and a self-confessed Aries. She has been drawing and painting since her father taught her - today she teaches herself: "I love trying new techniques. That's how I discovered the possibilities of digital art. I started with 3D rendering about 12 years ago, then I moved on to digital painting and for some time now I have been incorporating parts of photos into my works. My style may have changed over time, but my preferred subjects have not. I have a weakness for female beauty (faces and eyes mainly). I like to portray my fantasy ladies in a surreal context. My favourite series deals with women and food - which is not surprising when you know how passionate I am about feasting. Another passion of mine is imagining and writing fantasy worlds/stories. In other words: I think nothing is impossible - I believe in fairy tales - and I can discover magic everywhere. So if I can bring a little magic to your walls, I am very happy."
