In the south of France, between the towns of Marseille and Cassis lies France's newest N.P. the Massif des Calanques. Calanques are white limestone formations that form the coastal strip. The deep coves form wonderful swimming spots and idyllic beaches. The park can only be visited on foot from Cassis or Marseille or with a 2-hour boat trip. In total there are 13 bays to be found in the 20 km wide coastal strip, each one more beautiful than the other. We found it wonderful to both walking and by boat to explore this area because it gives you a complete picture of this beautiful place in southern France.
