Matterhorn at sunrise reflecting in the Stellisee, a classic mountain landscape. The Matterhorn is probably the most famous mountain in the Alps and towers over the mountain village Zermatt, Wallis, Switzerland. The mountain was climbed for the first time by Alpinist Edward Whymper, but the descent was disastrous. Four climbers from his team died by falling down. The Matterhorn, also known as Cervin or Cervino, is 4478 meters high and thus one of the highest mountains in the Alps.
