This Tin Snail was tucked away in a corner in a French village. Because of the dry climate you can see them there a lot and they remain in good condition. By the position of the headlights it seems to muse about the good old days.
At first I thought I was going to do the photo in black and white, but by playing with the colours a bit I saw that the colours of the car matched very well with the colours of the wall and the so characteristic colours of the shutters in front of the windows.
I think this work would do very nicely on the wall of nostalgic car fans. Or with a Francophile like me....
I came this close to not being involved in photography. My first camera was a Kodak Instamatic, with the biggest parallax error you could wish for! So I always had pictures of people without heads. I used these cassettes with 12 or 24 photos, black and white (that was cheaper than colour!). I was advised to be economical with this material. I only took a picture if I was sure it was worth it. Later, when I had a reflex camera, I used slides (cheaper indeed!). They have to be right the first time, you can't adjust anything afterwards. That has helped me in my development as a photographer. Now I do everything digitally of course and every photo is edited.
I have experience as a wedding photographer, making portraits of people (and animals), in colour and black and white. But, because I always have a camera with me, I photograph everything I think is worthwhile. I like to go on an adventure with a client, to photograph a classic car for example. Or I make product photos of the jewelry of a goldsmith.
