This photo art shows the Millennium Bridge to St Paul's Cathedral in London, UK, a view taken from the other side of the River Thames on a misty, rainy day.
The bridge, to the left of the image is a footbridge, a steel suspension bridge, over the River Thames that links Bankside with the City of London, entering the City with fabulous views of St Pauls Cathedral. This magnificent Anglican Cathedral sits on Ludgate Hill, the highest point of the City of London. The Cathedral is a Grade 1 listed building.
St Paul's Cathedral dates from the 17th century and was designed by Sir Christopher Wren in the English Baroque style. The Millenium bridge opened in 2000 (hence the name) but was quickly nicknamed 'the wobbly bridge' as pedestrians felt a swaying motion as they walked across and some experienced motion sickness! The bridge was closed for some swift re-engineering and opened again in 2002.
