Easter Island is of course known for its Moai's. Ahu Tongariki is one of the largest Ahu's on Easter Island and the best place to go to watch the sunrise. There are 15 restored Moai on this spot. These Moai were toppled by a Tsunami in the 1960s. Many Moai broke their necks during the fall, the head was later reattached with cement; in order not to stress this weak spot, they chose not to put back the headgear, called topknots. In addition, many topknots were also damaged. One Moai did receive a red "hat. That was an action of local residents when the restorers were away in the evening.
I am Antwan Janssen, travel and nature photographer from Uden. During my many travels on this globe I try to capture all the beauty on photo. As you can see on this site my preference goes to landscapes, wildlife but also to the local population, mostly abroad but certainly also in our beautiful Netherlands. In recent years, several of my photos have won awards in both national and international photo competitions.
