Mont-Saint-Michel, also called "Wonder of the West" is a world-famous tourist attraction, as well as an important place of pilgrimage. It is built on a rocky islet. So named "Wonder of the West" because of its spectacular location, the Mont is surrounded by a beautiful bay, at the mouth of the Couesnon. The difference between low and high tide is very large. Nowhere else in France is this big. You can see the spring tide twice a day several times a year. Mont-Saint-Michel used to be accessible on land at low tide and completely surrounded by water at high tide. Today, a narrow bridge with a shuttle service runs to the island, so tourists can always get to and from the island. In 1979, Mont-Saint-Michel and the surrounding bay was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is France's third tourist attraction after the Eiffel Tower and Versailles Castle. More than 3,500,000 visitors come here every year.
Hi! My name is Magalie Voorn, 27 years old and living in a small village in North Brabant. I work in the hospital, but I have been photographing for several years because this is my passion. My husband and I are adventurous and have an old Volkswagen T2 van with which we, together with our dogs, make the whole of Europe unsafe. I like to photograph the most beautiful destinations that we encounter. We also made our honeymoon to Indonesia. This was really great!
