A metal gate opens like a threshold into another world - a world where time flows more slowly and the sounds of nature are the only language. Behind it, tall, wild grass stretches out, swaying gently in the wind as if to tell long-forgotten stories. The surrounding trees form a silent frame, their crowns touching the dark clouds that lie over the scene like a heavy curtain.
It is as if this place demands a break from the hustle and bustle of the world. There is no human being to be seen, but his traces can be felt - in the weathered gate, in the path that was once travelled, in the grass that has reclaimed its space.
This last picture in the trilogy is like a quiet final chord: raw, melancholy, but full of dignity. It speaks of the past and the force of nature, of retreat and contemplation. "Landleben" does not end with a bang, but with a deep breath - poetic and honest.
