A motorcycle is a motorised vehicle on two or three wheels, possibly with a sidecar or trailer. In the early years, at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, various sources of power were experimented with, but from the 1930s the internal combustion engine was common. In the 21st century electric motors are also used. Vehicles that are lighter and slower than a motorcycle can be considered a moped, but what does not meet the requirements is considered a motorcycle. This applies, for example, to souped-up mopeds. Certain vehicles, such as light quadricycles (quads), which used to be considered motorcycles, have been considered cars since the change in the law in 2009.
