In this intriguing and mystical photograph, we see a woman exuding elegance and mystery. She is wearing a black turtleneck jumper, pulled up high over her nose and mouth, revealing only her eyes. Her hair is tied back tightly in a neat bun, giving a sense of order and simplicity. The most striking and enchanting element of this composition is the raven resting on her shoulder.
The raven, with its glossy black feathers, almost seems to be one with the woman. The bird's head is positioned so that its eye falls exactly over the woman's eye. This creates a fascinating illusion where it seems as if the raven's eye is actually the woman's eye. This interplay between man and animal creates a magical and somewhat sinister atmosphere, as if together they form one creature guarding the secrets of darkness.
The woman and the raven stand in front of an austere, nondescript wall, drawing all attention to their mysterious appearance. The simplicity of the background contrasts beautifully with the complexity and dark elegance of the scene. This picture symbolises the deeper connection between man and nature and evokes a sense of mystery and contemplation.
The image exudes a sense of mysticism and symbiosis, where the raven seems to be not just a companion, but an extension of the woman. This artwork invites the viewer to ponder the hidden secrets and subtle nuances of the connection between man and beast, between elegance and darkness.
It all started with a4 paper and HB pencils. As a child I was often impressed by how beautiful the world around me was. The urge to capture this beautiful world, and to show the people around me what I saw, was actually there from the beginning. If I remember correctly, I was about eleven years old when I first met the camera. Of course it was a simple compact camera with a ridiculous quality, but I enjoyed it.
I sometimes said I wanted to be a photographer, but of course you have one of the two parents who says, "Dream on." Strangely enough, I followed the sarcastic remark as advice, and still went to study photography.
