It feels so familiar, yet is already history: The yellow and blue type Mat '64 railcars.
These beloved trainsets were lord and master on the Dutch railroad network for many years and became known by their nicknames "Hondekop" (actually attributed to Mat '54) and "Apekop". Nowadays these trains are still occasionally used for museum rides and charter trains. Such as train set 904, which in the photo is standing along the platform of Haarlem station and will soon continue its journey through the Netherlands.
Together, the train, the old square station clock and the monumental canopy form a historic image of the time that for a long time determined the Dutch street scene. With this photograph I want to keep the memory of that familiar image of the time alive.
This work is not only for all train lovers, who have a warm heart for the Mat '64, but also for everyone who cherishes warm (childhood) memories of this archetypal Dutch scene.
