About the artwork

Namaste is a greeting and mudra. The word has its origin in Sanskrit "took" (bow) and means "I bow to you".

Namaste is in India, but also in several other Asian countries, a common Hindu gesture to greet and show respect. In this gesture the hands are pushed against each other, the palms of the hands touch each other, the fingers point upwards and are slightly bent towards the head. Often a slight bow is made. At the gesture 'namasté' is often said, but it can also be done without words, where the meaning remains the same.

With this gesture Hindus greet their gods, but also each other. According to them the gods also greet each other with this gesture. is a greeting and mudra. The word has its origin in Sanskrit "took" (bowing) and means "I bow to you".
