Nyhavn Harbour in Copenhagen is a picturesque and charming. The harbour is flanked by colourful Dutch-style town houses and was built in the 17 Century to link the harbour to Copenhagen City. There are a range of restaurants and bars with outside eating areas overlooking the harbour and one of the main tourist boats has its terminus there.
On the day the photograph was taken there was a Christmas market, all of the little wooden huts containing gifts and decorations. As it was December the sun was not very high in the sky (it is dark by 3.30pm) and the Christmas markets and boats were in deep shadow. A rain storm was brewing and soon after I took this shot there was a downpour.
I have enhanced the colours and added a texture to the image which gives a slight grainy effect.
Born in the South of England I now live half way up a mountain in Umbria, Italy. I work from my art studio looking out over fabulous views of the Italian countryside. I am so happy to share my artwork with you.
An artist and blogger, I specialize in photo art and acrylic painting. For my photo art, I start with my own photographs and work on them digitally to capture the feeling I want to convey with the final image. For my abstract work, I literally 'go with the flow' and follow where my heart wants to take me as I work.
I create art to make your heart smile, capturing the spirit of place in towns and villages, or creating art to enhance the energy of your home or workplace. Take your time to look through my portfolio, I hope you enjoy it.
