A glimpse into history and the present.
This old weathered wall (built in 1809) has been through a lot during various wars. In later periods, this wall was part of a re-education camp and a resort. Today the ruin, of which the old wall is a part, is a tourist attraction.
What intrigues me is the fact that this old wall has been through so much. This wall has seen misery and sorrow but also joy and other beautiful things. It is special to realize that when you stand in such a place to take pictures.
Over the years this place has fallen into disrepair and that is a pity. They are currently working hard to restore everything.
What I also like about such a place is that nature takes over the old buildings and walls. Over this old wall grows a beautiful green ivy and all around it are different kinds of wild flowers.
In the window there are still withered leaves from last fall. Perhaps a bird or a mouse had a nest here.
In short, this place and this wall let your imagination flow.
Location: ruins of the Prins Frederik fortress, Ooltgensplaat, Goeree-Overflakkee, the Netherlands.
I see taking pictures as a creative process.
My challenge here is to create artistic works of art with my camera. So not an ordinary photo of a certain object or subject, but a photo that is slightly different than usual.
I find my sources of inspiration in nature, in all the beauty that can be discovered there. But objects in and around the house are also a source of inspiration for me. Actually, I see opportunities in everything around me to make photo works of art. Every object has its own structure and shape. Beautiful lines and patterns can be found everywhere.
Merging multiple images together is one of my favorite things to do. In this way, an ordinary photo gets a creative twist. Sometimes I mix a number of photos together and sometimes I combine a photo with my own painting.
When painting I am also always fascinated by patterns, structures, shapes and lines. Some of my paintings are also for sale through this site.
I have made my collection with great pleasure and I hope that you will enjoy the artwork that will hang on your wall!
