For about a decade, I travelled around Europe photographing abandoned buildings. Some of these buildings were factories, where the smell of grease and oil still hung in the air. Wall paint did not yet exist, whitewash did. These walls have lived, layer upon layer applied, worn away and another layer applied. Grey when wet, snow-white when dry. Here the walls tell the history of the building.
My name is Frans Nijland, I am an amateur photographer and I live in Delden Overijssel. For years my great passion was urbex photography, capturing the decay of abandoned buildings. For this many trips have been made in a large part of Europe. Over the years my interest has broadened to include nature photography, architecture and urban photography. I hope you enjoy my photos.
Sincerely, Frans Nijland.
