Keulsepoort filling station is the oldest filling station in the Netherlands and dates back to 1933. It was built as a service station for The American Petroleum Company.
The construction was revolutionary and ultra-modern at the time. It is an example of the New Building style from the period between 1920 and 1940 and reminds one of American road movies.
The petrol station played a leading role for Venlo in the Monte Carlo Rally before 1940, when there was a stopover there.
