This picture is about the desire to be touched. About caressing. About despair, about emotion. About... Everyone can have his or her own association with it.

This series consists of self-portraits made in my studio at home during corona lockdown in the Netherlands, April 2020.

Remke Spijkers (1973, Utrecht, Netherlands)

Already as a child, I inherited my passion for photography from my father. My parents often took me out into nature and I would observe my father photographing mosses, animals and landscapes. Since 2008 I'm working full-time as a professional photographer.

Nature is my greatest source of inspiration. I love being outside. In nature I relax and get inspiration. I feel free. I hope to be able to give this feeling to others through my work.

Art connects. It brings you home to yourself and in connection with others.
With my art I hope to make the world a little more peaceful.

Beauty is everywhere. The challenge is to slow down and be open to it.
