In the south of France, in Provence, lies the village of Roussilon. This village is particularly famous for its ochre quarry. The hills surrounding the village were rich in ochre which had been exploited since the late 18th century for its red and yellow dyes. Via le Sentier des Ocres, or the ochre path, you can take a walk through this beautiful area.
