A wonderful old ornate doorway in Tavernelle, Umbria, Italy. A marble architrave surrounds an old, antique, wooden door. Just think how many people have been through that doorway over the years. One side of the door is open revealing a dark staircase beyond. Above the door is a semi-circular window made of decorative ironwork. This is traditional in Central Italy, allowing light to flood into the entrance hall and stairway when the door is closed. This is a wonderful piece of Italian architectural history.
