The port is particularly suitable for transporting bulk goods such as oil, steel, grains and timber, but containers and passenger ships also arrive at Europoort. The port is well connected to the European road network, making it a popular choice for importers and exporters. There are numerous companies based at the port, including terminals, storage facilities and logistics service providers. One of the largest companies is the Pernis refinery. Rotterdam Europoort is a major employer in the region and contributes to the economic growth of the Netherlands.
