Anyone traveling by train past Amsterdam RAI station, or driving by car along the A10 ring road, is bound to have noticed this striking building. Consisting of three stacked triangles whose points point in different directions, this building is an attention grabber pure and simple. It is one of the icons of modern architecture on Amsterdam's Zuidas. The complex houses the design hotel NHOW Amsterdam RAI, part of the NH Hotel Group. Designed by architects Reinier de Graaf and Rem Koolhaas of architecture firm OMA, this work of art has been captured by many photographers. I always find it a challenge with such iconic structures to make an image of them that offers the viewer a new perspective. In this case, I did so by converting the photo to black and white, sharpening the contrasts. This accentuates the clean lines in the construction.
Photography is looking with different eyes. For over 10 years I have tried to capture my view of the world through the lens. My favorite subjects are landscapes, nature, macro photography, cities and architecture.
