Panicale is a very picturesque medieval walled town in Umbria, Italy. It is a firm favorite with tourists and the streets are bustling during tourist season. Off season, there is a lot to be seen by wandering around the streets and taking time to look down all of the alleyways and arched tunnels.
Here is a look down a passageway, under an arch and into the light beyond to the houses and a motorcycle parked beyond. Umbria is a region of rich browns and bright colors and lots of terracotta and Panicale is no exception. But sometimes the colors catch the eye rather than the architecture. So in this image I have removed the intensity of the color so the focus is on the beautiful wall and arch of the passageway and the way it draws you to the view beyond. You can imagine over many lifetimes how many people have walked down this passage.
