Recently I put some spacer rings on my macro lens. To get even closer to the subject I am photographing. It's quite surprising what special patterns, critters, etc. you come across then.
Macro photography is photographing at short to very short distances parts of people, animals, plants or objects, with the intention of making them appear as large as possible, so that details become visible that are difficult or impossible to see with the naked eye.
It is also quite a challenge to create sharpness or blurriness in the right place.
And to make a nice, interesting composition of it.
In 1997 I moved from Amsterdam to the charming town of Zutphen - situated on the river IJssel.
In 1998 a tibetan terrier came into our family, who had to be walked in the forelands a few times a day. Every morning the IJssel river offered a different sight:
