Only a few metres away from the Reichstag building is the Paul Löbe House. Named after the last democratic Reichstag president of the Weimar Republic, the light-filled building in the Spreebogen is part of the "ribbon of the federation" that connects the two parts of the capital formerly separated by the Wall across the Spree. The "ribbon of the federation" consists of the new Chancellery, the Paul Löbe House on the west side of the river and the Marie-Elisabeth Lüders House on the east side.
