Street view of Petticoat Lane Market in London, one of London's oldest markets. In the foreground, the old and somewhat raucous market, in the background the skyscrapers of modern London.
"Petticoat Lane Market is one of London's best-known street markets, and owes its name to its long history as the centre of clothes swapping.
During Queen Victoria's reign, the street's name was changed to the more civilised Middlesex Street. Although this remains the official destination, the old name lingers and the Sunday market held here. In the surrounding streets, it is still known as the Petticoat Lane Market.
Despite attempts to dissolve it, it is still a busy market. There is a wide range of goods on offer, but the biggest sellers are still clothes. (Wikipedia)"
