Picture of the abandoned market halls in Meppel with a table, chair and mannequin.
My name is Therese Brals, born in 1969 in Meppel, the Netherlands.
Ever since I was a child I have loved drawing and designing. I was only 14 when I knew I wanted to go to art school. When I was 17 I was accepted at the academy, but unfortunately I could not find my way there. It was a world I didn't understand. I was supposed to let go of my own ideas and start thinking again as a child. After 6 months I knew this didn't suit me, because my urge to learn practical skills was increasing. That's why I decided to sign up for the teacher training course in drawing and handicrafts. This training gave me much more satisfaction. In 1994 I graduated from the Visual Arts Teacher Training.
